Aides making above $100,000 include White House chief of staff, national security adviser and press secretary. Other aides working in relative anonymity also fit into that category.
“Families are tightening their belts, and so should Washington. They deserve a government that truly is of, and by, the American people,” Obama said.
With the stroke of a pen, he instituted strict new lobbying limits. Appointees in government must sign a pledge agreeing not to lobby other executive-branch officials “for the remainder of the administration.”
